This cache was formerly named “The
Eagles Nest Redux”. I have been
asked to move the cache by the Ozaukee County Parks Superintendent,
because it was too far off the officially marked trail. Those of
you that have found the “Eagles Nest” or “Eagles
Nest – Redux” can find this
cache in its new location and claim another find! This cache is
located within the beautiful Loins Den Gorge Nature Preserve County
Park in the town of Grafton. Please respect the area and landscape.
Stay off the steep inclines as posted! Park hours are 6:00am to
9:00pm.
As the title states, this cache is located on
the Cedar Loop.
The Lions Den is hands down my favorite
Ozaukee County Park. When I was a kid, we would ride our BMX bikes
on un-groomed trails making our way to the ravine and eventually
down to the beach. We would spend our endless summer days swimming,
riding on the beach and exploring. Later in life, we would ride
mountain bikes over the same trails. Now that
the park is developed with its nicely groomed trails and stairs to
the beach. I love coming with CC to hike, gaze out at the
lake and snap pictures of the beautiful landscape while telling
stories of the past. What an awesome place!
**Important note about Deer Hunting**
This park allows hunting during the bow and
gun deer hunting seasons! This park is closed to the general public
during the Gun Deer Hunting Season which starts the Weekend Before
and runs through the Weekend After Thanksgiving! This park is open
to the general public during both early and late bow hunting
season. Wear appropriate clothing during bow hunting season which
runs mid September through early January. Hunting details are
