Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small click-lock container, well hidden off the beaten track. The lower levels of the quarry are flat and accessable to prams, but to reach the cache you will need to scramble a short way.

Hill Hole Quarry is a small nature reserve, near th M1, j22. The site is a former granite quarry. The main pit is now filled with water, and well fenced off to keep your little one's safe. This pool is now home to Roach, Perch, and the critically endangered White-Clawed Crayfish.

There is a copse of Oak trees that are home to Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, Nuthatchers and Treecreepers.

You can take a path to the top of the quarry (steep steps), giving a great view on a clear day. There is a trig point on the top, and a Toposcope.

Those of you who enjoy Rock climbing will be delighted to know that there is a good days climbing there, so this is a good location for a day out. You can find a guide to the climbs on a website for 'The Tower climbing Centre', Leicester.

There are no facilities other than a dog poo bin. There is a free height restricted car park down the road, or we usually park on the layby dirrectly opposite the entrance, which is well signed.
