Geocache Description:

Purpose of cache:
Make people aware of a long forgotten entrance to the Spring Lake park system.

Caution!
There is a deep hole next to the trail about 300 feet in from the gate. It is marked with branches, but please be careful.

About the trail:
The trail behind the gate is muddy in the winter months (wear rubber boots), but fairly dry in the summer months. My wife remembers being able to run along this trail and connect with the trails on the southwest side of Spring Lake in her younger days (late seventies). The trail is clear to the cache, but is overgrown past the cache and you will end up bushwhacking to reach to the outlet area of Spring Lake.

About 50 feet before you reach the cache, there is a small animal trail going through the woods down to lake. Once I tried to get to the Spring Lake paddle cache this way, but ended up sinking up to my upper leg in a deep mud hole by the lake and filling my rubber boots with the same substance.

The cache:
A 1.2 liter lock-and-lock that can be reached without leaving the trail.

I hope you will enjoy the trail. Try to imagine the solitude here without the barking dogs.

There is an unactivated travel bug for the FTF. Congratulations to RunsWithGoldens with the Woo-hoo FTF.
