Geocache Description:

Brothers Clarence and Clive James were respected members of the close-knit community of Lapstone, they were both retired and in their 70's and they had one passion in life that they both shared - Fishing!

Every Saturday and Sunday mornings, anyone that was up at dawn and was down at the boat ramp on the Nepean River, would see the 2 brothers turn up in their old battered ute, see them back their old tinny down the ramp, launch it, park the car and set off up the river into the gorge. It was their favourite place to be, and, for them, more importantly, it was where most of their secret fishing spots were.

This morning seemed no different to any other, it was a bit overcast, but the sun would soon burn that away and it would be another amazing day on the river. Already fish could be seen jumping here and there, the brothers were excited at the prospect of what they may catch this morning. Not long after they passed under the huge freeway bridge and were starting to leave the signs of civilisation behind, Clarence started to become agitated and worried but did not know why. When his brother asked what was the matter with him, he said he felt like something was watching them.....

6 hours later a jetski was coming back down the river through the gorge area towards the bridge when he noticed a small tinny adrift towards the eastern bank, he did not think much of it but as he got closer, he saw 2 people in the boat, one was laying over the other bolt upright. He changed his course and slowed down to take a closer look and to see if they needed any help at all.

It was the small tinny of Clarence and Clive, it was Clive that was slumped over, unmoving, Clarence was sitting bolt upright, also immobile, staring into the distance, his eyes glazed over. The jetski rider called out but got no response! He quickly pulled alongside and tied the tinnies bow rope to the jetski and climbed aboard, there was still no response from either of the older men. He quickly called 000 and as he was talking to the 000 operator, Clarence let out an almighty scream, he grabbed the jetski rider by the arm and mumbled over and over...

Those eyes! Those huge black eyes!!

He then collapsed. By this time, the slow moving current had moved the 2 watercraft further out of the gorge and more down river, it was about this time, that the hairs on the back of his neck rose up and he had a strong feeling that he was being watched.....

This is not called the observation post for nothing, it has commanding views up and down the river as well as towards Sydney. The actual cache location is not suitable for kids, nearby with supervision should be fine. The cache will be tricky to get to, but not that hard really. If the cache is where it is supposed to be, you will not see it just by looking alone.

Inside this cache you may find a clue left behind by our missing scientist, you will know a clue if you see one, they stay in the cache!! Please do not drop it and loose it. Make sure you record any clues very carefully that you may find. Use the sheet provided on the main cache page or take a photo of each clue you find.

As with all these caches - come prepared for anything and everything!

Inside the lid, is an alien language, you better write that down as well as it just may come in handy at some point when trying to figure out what has happened to our missing scientist and discovering the location of the Alien Commander.

Bring a camera, enjoy the views, best not at night or in the rain, be careful, if it looks like the hard way, it probably is!!
