Geocache Description:

It seems that most towns have Monuments to their warriors.
This is a very different kind of monument....
................................Cold War Style!
...................................A Nike Missile silo.

Magnetic Bison

This concrete area is the roof of a nuclear missile bunker. In the 1960s the 8 to 16 Nike antiaircraft missiles housed below protected Philadelphia from Russian bombers.
The 2 smaller cages E & W mark the large steel doors where elevators would raise the missiles to ground level for launch. SE of the W. elevator door is a 3' x 3' steel hatch cover. Bison Tube, magnetic cache, log only. Hint is spoiler.
There is a historic marker on the road in front of the park.
3000' to NNW was the Radar Control Site on Twinning Ford Rd. Now school admin. buildings & open grounds. And now a Cache GC2HBB4 (visit link)
