Geocache Description:

One John Adams Gold Dollar for the FTF. The cache container is a tupperware container wrapped in black duct tape. After a heavy rain, the area can be full of knee deep water. The cache is winter friendly. In fact, winter might be the best time to get this one. On August 29, 2010, I changed the cache from the original concept and reduced the difficulty level.

JA

John Adams had many nicknames, but my favorite is “Atlas of Independence” which he earned for his steadfast support for American separation from England. Like the Greek god Atlas who held the world on his shoulders, Adams was strong and unyielding. I’ve always been baffled that John Adams’ slave-holding, plantation-owning political opponents always managed to portray him as a snobby, elitist, out-of-touch aristocrat. In truth, he was modest. He lived in a small house and grew his own food. He practiced law for an honest salary. Even when he was President, his wife Abigail hung her own laundry in the east room of the White House to dry. Hardly an aristocrat.

This cache was approved by Brian Russort, Land Manger, Milwaukee County Parks Department, permit #4.
