For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we'll continue that journey into the next century.

.

Action! Boy Scouts: The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives.

Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

This cache is located at the Fiesta Island Youth Camp that is run by the City of San Diego and the San Diego Youth Aquatics Center that is operated by the Boy Scouts of America for all youth groups. Be sure to obey the rules when entering the camp (no dogs).. .

The San Diego Youth Aquatic Center is nestled in a protected cove on Fiesta Island in the heart of Mission Bay Park, San Diego, California. The beautiful facility is surrounded by sandy bay front beaches with access to the Pacific Ocean. The center is available for use by youth groups

At the Youth Aquatic Center you can take advantage of instructional and recreational opportunities in sailing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, swimming and windsurfing. The Center's facilities include a sandy beach perfect for swimming, a boat ramp, meeting and program rooms, a kitchen and open-air courtyard, as well as marine biology labs.

The Center's fleet of boats includes aluminum canoes and rowboats, sit-on-top and touring kayaks, sailboards, 12 and 15 foot sailboats, and catamarans.

The Fiesta Island Youth Camp, which is adjacent to the Youth Aquatic Center, allows for camping of youth groups. The campsites hold up to 250 campers in 25 campsite clusters. Each site includes a barbeque, fire pit and picnic table. A centrally located restroom has drinking water and rinsing showers. An amphitheatre and bonfire ring are great for large group campfires.

In addition to Action! Boy Scouts, we’ve hidden nine other caches highlighting Scouting programs. Find all ten! Search SDIC, Treasures of Scouting on Geocaching.com.
