Geocache Description:

Take the Narramissic Drive from Route 1 (on right just before bridge if heading north). You have a choice of parking in several areas on the left hand side of the road. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the road to the cache site. The cache is a lock-n-lock camo container with a log book and trading items. Cache site GPS accuracy is right on.

The Narramissic River flows through the beautiful village of Orland and is one of the most photographed areas in Maine. From the bridge located at the intersection of Narramissic Drive and Route 175 you can look south and see the dam and alewife fishway (if you cross over the bride you can walk down the road on the right to photograph the dam and fishway). The old village center, where the geocache is located, consists of a small village park on the Narramissic river, a white steeple church, the Orland House B & B (which was actually part of the Underground Railroad and owned by the Buck family who founded “Bucksport”), a general store that sells just about anything you can imagine, the Orland Historical Society, the old Orland Post Office and an antique shop with three floors to explore – all within a “hop, skip, and a jump” of each other.
