Geocache Description:

Return of the Lonesome Pine

One of the first caches I ever found was the now archived GC524A ‘Lonesome Pine’. It brought me to a very nice wooded location. Although I knew exactly where I was, this place felt like I could be anywhere. The woods are a privately managed forestry and shooting area. The area is crisscrossed with public footpaths and bridleways.
There is quite a lot of wildlife here if you sit quietly and wait for it. There are also a few muggles passing by from time to time, many with dogs, so don’t think you’re necessarily alone and in a wilderness, exercise care when retrieving or replacing the cache.
The cache is quite a large one and will take a variety of fair sized swaps and trackables. The cache is located quite close to the path so you don’t need to wander off into the dense woodland.
During wet periods the trails can become a bit muddy so suitable footwear is recommended.

Parking is available at N 52 52.991 W 01 02.464 Laming Gap Lane is now only accessible from the A606 end due to the construction work going on with the A46. The closure at the A46 end is permanent.

As a first to find prize I’ve left a copy of the recent film ‘Find Me’. It was of interest to geocachers as it featured our wonderful hobby in its plotline. As films go it’s a bit ‘ham’ and predictable, the best bit being the extras with an introduction to geocaching by ‘Headhardhat’. Watch it then stuff it in another cache for somebody else to find
