Geocache Description:

In cooperation of the US Army Corps of Engineers, this is an ammo box located a short hike (1/4 mile) from the Nature Trail parking lot about half way down the hill to River Road Park. Please use the paved access road to River Road Park - Right, not the gravel road at the bottom of the hill that has the sign "Authorized Personnel Only."

Enjoy the hunt as well as Lake and River amenities.

This foot bridge is located on one of the many hike and bike trails laced through the scenic hills and bottomlands located on Clearwater Lake; River Road Right Bank Park. Located approximately 6 miles NW of Piedmont, MO.

The Bridge was installed in the Spring of 2009 after floods washed out the previous bridge in March 2008.

Clearwater Dam is on the Black River 46 miles north of Poplar Bluff, MO.
Construction of the outlet works was initiated in May 1940 and was completed in March 1942. However due to work stoppage during World War II the overall project was not completed until September 1948. Cost of construction was $9,120,000.

Recent construction on the Dam was to install a cutoff wall the lenth of the Dam. The wall consist of placing concrete approximately 32" thick at a depth of 195 feet, which will extend approximately 50 feet into rock below the dam. The cutoff wall is built to stop water seepage through the Dam. I've placed more information about the cutoff wall construction as well as some of the worn teeth that were actually used to construct the cutoff wall inside the cache, so please leave them for others to enjoy.

Clearwater’s trails and wildlife watching areas are a sightseer’s delight. Each day brings new discoveries offering hikers and sightseers the opportunity to be in the midst of nature.
