How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This cache is located within State Game Lands #38, near the top of Camelback Mountain. Since this is State Gamelands, be sure to wear bright ORANGE clothing during hunting season.

From the parking area, follow the main trail around the gate, up the hill and past all the antenna towers. One way hiking distance from the parking area to the cache is about 0.65 miles.

The cache is a short bushwack off the main trail. The best time to do this cache is in the winter or spring. Once the vegetation starts to grow, there will be more thorns and underbrush growth in the area, which is why I gave it a 3-star terrain.

You are looking for an ammo box. You won't find Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 in the cache, but you will find stuff to "Get Smart", plus a few other assorted items.
NOTE: During the winter months, the road to the State Gamelands Parking Area is not plowed. The road is only maintained to the houses/condos just past Camelback Ski Area. Even though the road is NOT plowed during winter, it is still traveled by hunters, hikers, etc. Due to the high elevation of this area (1800-2100 feet), there is usually snow up here when there is nothing at the bottom of the mountain. PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN DRIVING UP TO THE PARKING AREA.
