Geocache Description:

Having done some caching recently in the Lynn Woods area, I thought I should return the favor and place a few caches myself. Maybe an easy multi, a tough multi and an incredible traditional would be good. Let’s see what develops. This cache is an easy multi on the B Side of the woods.

The Lynn Woods
According to the Friends of Lynn Woods’ website, Lynn Woods Reservation is the second largest municipal park in the greater Boston area. This 2,200 acre forest reserve consists of ponds, wetlands, streams, deciduous/evergreen forest and rocky ledge. The ponds provide the drinking water for the residents of Lynn and surrounding communities.

The B Side
Most of the caches in Lynn Woods are located either north of Walden Pond or in the area surrounded by the three ponds. (Walden, Breeds and Birch) While looking at maps of the area I saw what I have come to call “the B Side”. Are you old enough to know what the B Side of a record was?

In the late 50’s and into the 60’s singles were released on 7 inch vinyl records called 45s. The hit song that the record company wanted played on the radio would be on the “A Side”. The flip side or the “B Side” was where non-album, non-radio-friendly, instrumental versions or simply inferior recordings were placed. Sometimes the B Side wasn’t even a song by the A Side artist.

The Cache
So why call the cache “Lynn Woods – B Side”? As I was looking at a map for a place to hide this cache I saw there were no caches on the south side of Breeds Pond. When I was looking where to park and access the woods I saw B Street was just off Parkland Ave. At the end of B Street you can park and walk over to the first stage of this cache which is a PVC ring. The coords on that ring will lead you a short ways away to the final. Be careful where you walk, there are several sink holes near the final. Please replace the camouflage to keep this cache from getting muggled.

Good luck and good caching,
Loch Cache

Congrats to doublewe on the FTF
