A tribute to Lee Falk's The Phantom This is # 1 in the Phantom series of caches.

Fantomen (orig. The Phantom) är en tecknad serie, skapad av manusförfattaren Lee Falk. Seriens hjälte är en trikåklädd brottsbekämpare som bor i det fiktiva afrikanska landet Bengali. I serien ses Fantomen (även kallad Den vandrande vålnaden) av omvärlden som odödlig - vilket har sin förklaring i att jobbet gått i arv från far till son ända sedan 1500-talet. Fantomen gjorde premiär på de amerikanska dagstidningarnas seriesidor den 17 februari 1936. Även om Fantomen inte är den första serietidningshjälten som bär trikåer, så är han den första som bär den åtsittande kostym som har blivit kännetecknet för serietidnings-superhjältar. Han är också den första som bär en mask utan synbara pupiller - något som är mycket vanligt för serietidningshjältar. Sedan 1960-talet har det funnits en livaktig licensproduktion av serien på svenska. Denna licensproduktion har även gått på export till bland annat övriga norden, Australien, Brasilien, Spanien och Indien. Sedan Lee Falks frånfälle har även den amerikanska dagspresserien styrts från Skandinavien. Fantomen publiceras dels i längre avsnitt i tidningar, på svenska i tidningen Fantomen, samt i strippformat. The Phantom is a cartoon created by Lee Falk. It stars a costumed crimefighter operating from the fictional African country Bengalla. The Phantom is regarded as immortal, which can be explained by the fact that the role of the Phantom has been passed on through generations ever since the 16th century. The series began in the US with a daily newspaper strip on February 17, 1936. While the Phantom is not the first fictional costumed crimefighter, he is the first to wear the skintight costume that has become a hallmark of comic book superheroes, and the first to wear a mask with no visible pupils, another superhero standard. The cartoon first came to Sweden in the 1960’s, and it has also been exported to countries such as the rest of the Nordic countries, Australia, Brazil, Spain and India. Ever since Lee Falk passed away the distribution of the cartoon to all countries has been handled from Scandinavia.
