Geocache Description:

Mega Scotland 2014

A smallish lunchbox type cache container with enough room for a few little swaps and some TB's or coins.

It's not quite the same, but in the Dukes of Hazard when you crossed the County or State Line you passed into a different set of laws, policed by a different law enforcement agency. Bo and Luke generally did this with all 4 wheels off the ground. We wouldn't recommend this at this crossing point!

Dukes

This spot is around the boundary between Ayrshire and East Renfrewshire on the old (but still in use) A77 road. The A77 here used to feel like the most dangerous road in Scotland; a dual carriage way with no central reservation - cars passing just a couple of feet apart with a combined speed of at least 140mph. Scary!

With the opening of the brilliant M77, the old A77 was kept open but converted to a sensible two lane road (with the remaining carriageway space converted to a great cycle route between Glasgow and Ayrshire). Two wheels is definitely the best way to get to this cache.

It is possible to come by car and there is some potential parking, relatively near to the cache, at the Floak turn-off. Please note that the nearby "Floak" cache isn't actually on the Floak road so don't park there! Also, please don't try to park at the cache itself - it won't be safe for you or others.

We decided not to give a hint. You know roughly where the cache should be and it's a decent sized container - should be pretty straightforward.

What more can we say? We have heard that water spins down the plughole in different directions depending on which side of the equator you stand. We haven't tried this experiment for our geographical line but would be happy for any feedback if someone does want to give it a go..............

Happy caching ................ The ST's x
