Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of five caches which will take you on a loop of Winton Estate near Pencaitland, East Lothian.

This route is a favourite dog walk that I use more often in the summer than winter. The path are generally in very good condition but after heavy rainfall they can be muddy and good boots may be required after prolonged wet weather. The section between Kingfisher Bridge and Ormiston can often be flooded in winter but there are opportunities to cross the ditch into the neighbouring field.

The cache is a small lock & lock container and is located on a section which was formerly the Macmerry branch line from the Gifford Light Railway.

The paths are hard packed and flat. Wheelchair users would be able to get within a few yard of the cache.

The full loop is around 5 miles long - map (visit link)

If completing the series i would suggest parking at Ormiston Station (see additional waypoint).

Other caches in the series :

Winton Loop - Winton House (visit link)
Winton Loop - Roadside (visit link)
Winton Loop - Kingfisher Bridge (visit link)
Winton Loop - James View (visit link)
