Geocache Description:

Nephin is Mayo's second highest point at 806m and the 36th highest mountain in Ireland. Lough Conn covers approximately 14,000 acres and is popular with people fishing for Trout and Salmon.

Access the lake from the Enniscoe side of Crossmolina and take care on the small country lane that leads to the cache since this is a main road into Gortnor Abbey school, and very popular with walkers. Park near the Lough to get a scenic view of Nephin over the calm waters of Lough Conn. Walk to the end of the pier and enjoy the serenity but be careful with small children since the water is deep and cold. Many wild birds enjoy the area which is well maintained and popular throughout the year.

Be prepared to make your dash for the cache when no-one is looking! To get to the cache from the parking area, follow the road up over the hill and move towards the large trees about 80m away. When you move onto the grass be careful of brambles. The cache is close by. When hidden the cache contained a log book, pen & pencil, and various trinkets and items that our children collected from other caches.
