According to local legend, the tiny settlement of Tuckertown was struck by a smallpox epidemic in the 1780s. Fearing that the disease was in the soil, Tuckertown was abandoned and one house was relocated to Main Street.
Could get wet feet depending on the time of year and beaver activity. Small lock-n-lock. An alternate way to Tuckertown Road is from the Colby Pond Recreation area off of Carter Drive just beyond the power line crossing, and is marked by a sign and gate. Follow the drive to the parking area for a short walk down a trail under the lines to Tuckertown Road at cache number Four. This avoids the seasonal high water between Tuckertown Road Two and Three.
