An diesem Prallhang des Lechs ist eine äußerst seltene interglaziale Kalksinterbildung entstanden. Sie unterscheidet sich von ähnlichen Vorkommen im Alpenvorland im wesentlichen durch ihr Entstehungsalter. Häufig entstanden solche Sinterbildungen erst nach den Kaltzeiten im Pleistozän.
Dieses Vorkommen hingegen bildete sich zwischen zwei Kaltzeiten durch die Gletschervorstöße der Würm- und der Riss-Moräne - also zwischen dem Jung- und dem Mittel-Pleistozän vor etwa 120.000 Jahren, hat eine Flächenausdehnung von ca. 200 Quadratmetern und eine Höhe von ca. 3 Metern. In ihrem Profil sind vielfältige Quellkalke ausgebildet. Hierin findet sich eine zwar artenarme, aber individuenreiche Molluskenfauna. Freigelegt wurde dieses Vorkommen durch die jüngste Tiefenerosion des Lech. Weitere Informationen zu diesem Geotop gibt es hier!
Folgende Aufgaben gilt es zu bewältigen: Begib dich zur Infotafel (S1), folge von dort dem Weg etwa 245 Meter Richtung SSW und biege dann Richtung Osten ab. Dieser Weg führt dich direkt zum Final. Mache dort ein Foto von dir und/oder deinem GPS an der im Beispielbild markierten Stelle und lade dieses Bild zu deinem Logeintrag hoch.

English description: This is the first Earthcache in the "Lechfeld" region. At this cut bank of the river Lech an extremely rare interglacial calc-sinter deposit has been shaped. It differs from similar deposits in the alpine foothills mainly by it's age. Most of these formations came into being after the ice periods in the Pleistocene. This deposit was formed between two cold periods of that time, when the glaciers of the Würm- and Riss-moraine pushed forward to northern Europe - that was inbetween the upper- and middle-Pleistocene about 120,000 years ago.
The deposit expands to an area of approximately 240 square yards and a height of about 10 feet. It partially consists of trass where a rich varied fauna of molluscs is embedded. This geotope has been exposed by vertical erosion of the Lech. More information to be found here!
