Geocache Description:

The cache is at the end of a series of clues to be found whilst walking around the picturesque town of Frodsham. If you have time enjoy reading the blue plaques and admire the varying architecture of the many historical buildings.

Frodsham stands on the River Weaver and Manchester Ship canal. The importance of Frotesham was noted in the Domesday Survey of 1086 – Frod’s village held by Earl of Mercia. Ranulph de Blundaville,

The areas greatest changes have occurred over the last century with the introduction and increased use of the motorcar. Although the street pattern has remained relatively unchanged, the layout within has been altered to accommodate and allow for traffic management and parking. The trees that line Main Street, which were originally planted in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, form a significant street scene feature that has been maintained. Also of interest in the street scene is the jubilee clock on the pedestrian crossing adjacent to the Golden Lion, which is believed to have been erected in 1925 to celebrate the visit of King George V. The area has retained an interesting variety of buildings from the past and some of the key buildings, many of which are listed, feature blue plaques.

The theme of the cache is based on the town symbol of a honeybee, seen throughout on plaques and street furniture; it was adopted in honour of Reverend William Charles Cotton, a former parish vicar and authority on bee-keeping.
At the site of each clue you will find a bee, however there are many bees around Frodsham so bee sure to use the clues to find the correct one!

The co-ordinates published are for the starting point of the tour, not those of the final cache. The tour will take you around 1-2 hours to complete, is accessible for pushchairs and is not generally muddy. There is a children’s play area and a café serving tea, coffee & cakes at the end of the trail. Frodsham also has a number of other tea shops & cafes, pubs & restaurants.

The cache is a Black Turtle style container in a camouflaged bag and contains some swaps and a log book & pencil. There is a FTF badge for the first successful Cacher.

There is plenty of parking all around Frodsham and it’s free!
Thank you to Cheshire West & Chester Council for permission to place the cache.

Find the correct location using the hint and then use the clue to work out the answer / missing number that corresponds to the letter in the clue. The number then needs to replace the appropriate letter in the following co-ordinates.
