Geocache Description:

This is a continuation of the Gainesville Historical Tour series, however it is a regular cache, not a virtual.

The Mt. Pleasant Cemetery was established in 1883 by the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Episcopal Church as the final resting place of its members and other African Americans in the City of Gainesville. Founded in 1867, the Church purchased the property for $125 in 1886. The earliest graves date back to the 1880s making it one of the oldest cemeteries in the City. Early African American community leaders are buried in individual and family plots at this location. Among them are civic leaders, educators, doctors, dentists, craftsmen, members of the armed services and business leaders.

Please park on the south side of the access road and walk around the front perimeter of the site to the cache. Along the way you will pass the historic maker, which provides more details about this site. The cache is on the border of the property at the NW corner. Hidden Georgia style, but with the cap of the container visible so you will not have so search. Please replace in this same manner.

It is a small vial with a small log. BYOP. No room for trading.

The hint below is a major spoiler -- if you need it.
