Welcome to
The listed coordinates
are bogus!
They were cut from the same piece
of cloth. And although they both worked for British Intelligence,
neither of them possessed the skills nor the predisposition to be
field agents. Certainly neither had the psychological attributes
that one needed to acquire the "00" status ... “license to
kill”.
No, that was not in their nature. They were more suited to
intellectual pursuits, rather than the physical. That’s how
they found themselves working in the Secret Intelligence Bureau.
Some would have viewed such "office work" as mind-numbingly boring.
But not them. They actually enjoyed pouring over the files.
Gleaning small bits of useful information from reams of paperwork.
Breaking ciphers. Reconstructing shredded documents. Analyzing
aerial images. How many nights had they worked late? Not letting go
until they had accomplished their task. They were both tenacious.
They knew that their contributions laid the foundation for much of
the "glamour work" that was done out in the field. How was it
explained to them back when they first joined SIB?
"To provide the British Government with a global covert
capability to promote and defend the national security and economic
well-being of the United Kingdom, SIB operates world-wide to
collect secret foreign intelligence in support of the British
Government's policies and objectives."
It gave them goose bumps.
So it was with no small degree of sadness that they each found
themselves packing up their offices … getting ready for their
big promotions to other branches under the umbrella of
“British Intelligence”. He was to take over for Major
Boothroyd and she was to head up the new Biometrics Branch. They
would be pursuing new interests while still doing their part. And
they knew that they would still work together from time to time. No
one could break up a team like them. Nevertheless, it was a bit
sad.
“So what was your most
memorable assignment?” he asked as they each worked on
their second pint in his now, even more disorganized office.
“Probably that bit of work we did on the ‘Antipodes
file’.”
“Oh lord yes! That was quite the
challenge!”
“And you?” she inquired.
“Without a doubt the ‘AVfile’.” he
replied.
She bolted upright, nearly knocking over her chair. “We
agreed that we would never speak of that one
again.”
“I know. I know. But you did ask.”
“Well now I’m sorry I did.” She sat back
down.
“Don’t worry, the tape for the ‘AVfile’
is secure. It’s in my safe and I assure you I’ll take
it with me before I leave tonight. Besides, you know what it's like
trying to find something down in 'File Storage'. We buried that
information so deep I doubt even we could find it.”
“You’re taking the tape with you? You know
that’s against SIB policy!”
“True. But we also agreed that this information needs to
be protected at all cost.”
“Some things are so important they come before queen and
country?” she said with a grin.
He laughed. “Exactly!”
|
True to his word, that evening, after
the last bit of his office had been packed he retrieved the tape
from his safe, placed it in his satchel and headed home.
How could he have known
someone had made a copy. |
Good luck, have fun and be
safe.

The PMC2 is a series of fiendishly
difficult puzzles created by 18 of the best Puzzle Masters in the
Mid-Atlantic Region. In each of these caches you will find a user
name and password. After you enter each user name and password into
the site listed below, you will be taken to a page with a short
puzzle and ultimately a final puzzle piece. Assemble these pieces
and find the final cache!
BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY HERE
This series is designed to lead you on an epic adventure that will
require Master puzzle-solving skills and extensive travel to unique
locations. You must travel and log in at each cache in order to
claim a find on the final. Due to the extensive time and effort put
into this challenge, the cache can be done as a group but each
member of the group must go to each cache site and sign each log.
Dividing into sub groups and pooling their efforts will not be
allowed.
All 18 caches will be released sporadically between now and the
EVENT to be held in June. To make them easy to find we have
created a WEBSITE that
will have a complete list of all the available PMC caches in all 4
series as they are published.
