As a new cacher to Central Otago I have been very pleased with
the standard of the caches placed here and have been even more
pleased when I have bumped into another cacher out hunting 'in the
wild'. In discussion with some of these folk we agreed that an
organised get-together would be a good thing - hence the placing of
this event cache.
The event location is the public reserve Rotary Glen located at
the head of McNulty inlet near the Dunstan Boat Club. Despite
Google Maps suggesting we will be in the middle of the lake, you
will not need to bring your flippers.
The event is a 'meet and greet' opportunity for both local and
traveling cachers. Bring a thermos of something to drink, a
lamington or hot cross bun and a folding chair or picnic blanket.
The aim is to relax and socialise for an hour with other cachers.
Put a watch on this listing for any last minute notices, like a
rain alternative. (Hmm, a very Central Otago joke in there
somewhere!)
Logging: To log this event you must sign the attendance register
at the event.
Travel Items: There will be a table where you can drop off and
pick up travel bugs and geocoins. Record your traveler on the form
provided. If you drop an item at the event, you should also drop it
online here on or before the event day. If you take a travel item
at the event, then also remember to pick it up from this page after
the event. Leftover travelers will be placed in local caches after
the event.
If you intend to join the event then please leave a 'Will
attend' note, else leave a 'Sorry RexTrex, must mow the lawns' type
of excuse. Attendees should log their attendance after the event to
gain their smiley face.
Pathtags: If you have path tags or signature items to exchange,
this would be a good opportunity for you. My happy little 'dino'
item is shown in local logs as a 'dino dropping' and is responsible
(mostly) for the name of the event.
