Please come
join us for a C.I.T.O. event and help clean around the pond and
walking path here at Lynn Haven Recreation Park.
Anyone that
has been to this area knows that ducks and water fowl frequent this
pond, our goal is to clean it up for them. Although there are no
known alligators in this pond, this is Florida and water snakes are
possible, although the ducks keep them away for the most part. Thus
the difficulty and terrain rating of 3/3
March
13th 2010 1pm-4pm
Plans are
to meet at the posted coordinates for a brief meeting and sign in
before we spread out and clean the waters edge around the walking
park and pond.
We are
trying to get some extra supplies for cachers to use, but may not
have enough for everyone. Please bring work gloves and 'grabbers'
if you have them. Trash bags and water will be provided. Long pants
and close-toed shoes are recommended (water-proof boots if you have
them)
Those with
small children are asked to please keep a close eye on them and not
let them get too close to the water!
I am
currently trying to contact City / County officials to allow us to
put a not motorized boat or canoe in the water to clean some of the
hard to reach areas. I will post more on this matter when I have
some information on it
If we get
a good turn out of ambitiuos cachers here, then the work may be
done a bit early, which will give everyone some quality caching
time with friends and family in the park area
Plans are
to turn the recently published "Hidden Boardwalk II" cache in this
area into a commemorative CITO cache which will be a full sized
cache(ammo can) with names of attendees at this event marked on the
can.
Make plans
now to attend, meet area cachers, do your part to practice CITO,
sign the can and make some memories that will last a
lifetime!
We hope
to see everyone there!
