Length about 7-1/2”
Common in the Northern Kettle Moraine in all seasons.
Look at the specialized beak, toes, and tail. Flight is undulating.
This cache is located a little ways off the Ice Age Trail in the Northern Kettle Moraine (NKM) State Forest. Enjoy a hike in the beautiful, hilly forest while watching and listening for woodpeckers. The Ice Age Trail is both a National and State designated Scenic Trail. A map showing it and the bridle/snowmobile trails in the NKM is available from the WI DNR here: DNR Trail Map
This is 1 in a series of 8 nearby caches honoring Woodpeckers of the NKM. (bookmark at right) This cache contains a clue needed to find the 8th cache: Why Don’t Woodpeckers Have Brain Damage?
You’re looking for a small camo-covered plastic container. Cache is winter-friendly. The trail is used year-round but you'll need to leave the trail a little bit for this cache and the hill is steep. Best roadside parking on CR S.
The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to <Jerry Leiterman> of the Wisconsin DNR.
