Geocache Description:

FTT
This series of caches will take you around the areas served by the long dismantled Footscray Tramways. They are all micros and virtually drivebys. You will need to provide your own scribbling stick. Take note of the pictured tram’s number on each log sheet as this will be required if you attempt the mystery cache of the series.

Overview
Footscray had an isolated tramway system that was opened on 6th September 1921. It had been planned and constructed under the Footscray Tramway Trust, but was opened by the newly formed Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board. The M.M.T.B. amalgamated all the separately operated tram companies in Melbourne.
Five routes were planned, two were never constructed, one was only partially completed, one was extended to eventually link up with the Melbourne system (effectively breaking the isolated system status). The local lines were closed in early 1962, leaving only route 82 as the survivor of the Footscray tramway system. This series of caches will take you to the termini of each line and give some history of the trams that operated on the system. Due to the “suburban-ness” of this series all caches are micros (sorry).

Cache notes:
FTT 3 Williamstown Road

You are in the area of the terminus of the Williamstown Rd route. This route was one of the original termini when the Footscray system opened.

The picture on the log is of Tram ***. It was one of 6 trams built by the MMTB in 1930. They were classified as X2 trams and were a design modified from the X1 design. In this photo it is shown at this terminus before making its way back to Russell St via Footscray.

You are looking for a mini eclipse mint tin. Please replace as you found it and push in far enough to conceal.
