While serving in the Marine Corps, it was
tradition to wish all of your fellow Marines a happy birthday on
November 10, the date that the Marine Corps was founded. To this
day, I still call/text/e-mail all of my friends and family that
served and wish them a happy birthday. I love this tradition and I
think we should follow in those footsteps with geocaching as well.
Dave Ulmer may have founded geocaching, but it is US, the
geocachers, that have helped to form it and make it what it is
today. Since we are all members of the global geocaching community,
the birthday belongs to all of us and we should celebrate it
accordingly.
We will meet at the gazebo in the center of Town
Square (6605 Las Vegas Blvd South). If there happens to be an event
at the gazebo, then we'll meet near the bridge, approximately 30
ft. east of the gazebo. If you're not sure where we're meeting,
just look for the Chick carrying cupcakes or look for some of your
fellow cachers.
PLEASE NOTE: When you log your Will Attend,
please list the number of attendees, so that I can be sure to have
enough supplies!
The event will start at 7:00 pm with some
meeting and greeting (I think we'll have a few out-of-town visitors
with us!), followed by the FTF drawing. We will hand out cupcakes,
sing "Happy Birthday To Us" and take a quick picture with our
banner. (Usual group photo etiquette applies: kids and vertically
challenged in front, and height-enhanced cachers in the back.)
After the photo, you're more than welcome to continue fellowship
and hang out, or head home.
A couple of volunteers will be greatly
appreciated!
