How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Micro in woods .3 miles along trail. Moderate hike with elevation changes. Short bushwack required.

Cache is a key container hidden off the Northville-Placid Trail. Parking lot is on Tarbell Road. Bring a pen or pencil. In winter you will need snowshoes or skis.

Why the name? No geocaches are allowed beyond this point. Geocaching is prohibited for hundreds of square miles between here and Keene, NY. This is the edge of the High Peaks Wilderness Management Area, where geocaching is prohibited even along the shore of Long Lake (except for the islands). Geocaching in the Adirondacks is a privilege. I hope you appreciate this as much as I do.

This area may look familiar to those who have done Erin's Downhill caches (now archived).

This cache was set following the DEC guidelines Part 190: Use Of State Lands; a geocache that is labeled with the owner's name and address and installed in a manner that does not disturb the natural conditions of the site or injure a tree.
