The Icicle Station
Leavenworth, WA finally has a train station. This project has
been long awaited by the Leavenworth community. On February 8, 2007
the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway and Amtrak agreed to the
development project and for daily service to Leavenworth on the
Empire Builder route. After months of working out the details, on
November 10, 2008 the City of Leavenworth announced that the
"Icicle Station" project is a go. Construction began and the first
service occurred on September 25, 2009.
The picture above was taken from N Road. The mountain on the
left is Wedge Mountain and on the right is The Temple. The canyon
in between is the Snow Creek drainage where hikers access the Snow
Lakes and Enchantments.
While hiding the cache some deer passed by. I snapped this
picture before they dropped out of sight over the hill.
