Geocache Description:

This Cache highlights the achievements of Casey from Troop 164 of Okemos, Mi. He and 10 volunteers identified trees then made and identified signs for them. There was 64 hours in this project. Casey earned his Eagle Award on November 16th , 2009.

This is the 8th cache in this series called "cache to Eagle" which highlights Eagle Service Projects by the Boy Scouts of the Chief Okemos Council. This cache is a camo sandwich size lock and lock that contains a log book, pen and several small trade items. It is place just off the paved trail around the lake. There is a fee to enter Hawk Island Park most days. This is a great park to do a little fishing and have a great time in the summer at the water park and play ground. In the winter bring a sled for the hill and there is a warming house located at one of the pavillions.

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century. The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives. Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor Eagle Scouts and to highlight their Eagle projects and community service.
