Geocache Description:

Congratulations to kb_trials, FTF!!! The town of Charlton, Massachusetts was first settled in 1735, and was officially incorporated in 1775. It became a separate district (from Oxford) in 1755, and based on that, the town celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2005. During the 1800s, farming continued to be the major occupation, but woolen mills were being built along some of the town's brooks by the turn of the twentieth century.

Charlton Center Historic District is a historic district roughly on Main Street, from Mugget Hill Road to Masonic Home Road, and adjacent roads in Charlton, Massachusetts. The district features various Federal and Gothic Revival houses and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. On Labor Day, you can catch the annual Old Home Day Parade coming down Main Street... a great event where the town comes together to celebrate this long-running tradition. This cache is part of the "Downtown / Main Street USA" series by TwoCat. Please visit the cache that started it all - "Downtown / Main Street USA: Edison, NJ" (GC11H9K).
