This is the first in a series of easy caches designed to serve as a diversion for patients, visitors and hospital staff alike. You should be able to find all three caches on the hospital grounds within an hour or so. Of the three, this cache is best suited for patients who can go outside as it is just outside the patient care areas and is readily accessible from the hospital building.
This first cache is in a quiet area of the hospital grounds where one can get away to relax in a quiet place for a few moments. Take advantage of the nearby walking Labyrinth to meditate.
The difficulty of this cache is due to the adjacent buildings and limited access to the sky for GPS signals. I have checked the coords multiple times - please keep in mind that your GPSr may come up with different coords than the three I have used. Bring your own pen and good luck!
Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) is an 800+ bed tertiary referral center and medical teaching hospital. It is the only Level I trauma center and burn unit in Central Florida.
This cache is placed with the permission of the hospital's security and they are aware of its location. Some cachers have raised concern over the hospital's security. Please keep in mind that hospital security is there for the patient's protection and not for our geocaching pleasure. All of the officers (of which we have dozens) were made aware of these caches when they were first placed months ago. With all of the law enforcement notices they receive every week, please don't expect every officer to remember that these caches exist - they are focusing on far more important issues. Security has, unfortunately, become a primary focus for hospitals nationwide. The video cameras throughout the hospital grounds are for good reason - simply watch the news every evening and you'll understand why. PLEASE BE STEALTHY AND DON'T CONFRONT THE SECURITY OFFICERS. Otherwise, I will have to remove these caches. Protective Services is supportive of the caches being here as long as we don't abuse their generosity. Above all, HAVE FUN!
