Geocache Description:

This is a multi-cache with five stop locations, located within Staunton River State Park. Finding the cache requires the use of the trail system within the park. Depending on the exact route you take to move between the clues you will hike about 2.5 or 3 miles. The trail system in this area is natural surface with slight rolling terrain but mostly flat. Be sure to bring a pen and scratch paper to keep track of the clues.

Staunton River State Park is one of the original six state parks in Virginia that opened its doors to the public in June of 1936. The park is tucked away neatly in Southside Virginia between the Dan and Staunton Rivers just at the threshold of Buggs Island Lake. The Staunton River State Park Wildlife Adventure multi-cache is designed to give you a brief tour of the park and some interesting facts about the park. The cache will give you an opportunity to visit some the best views and most interesting spots within the park that are unknown to most. The cache containers are regular sized containers (about the size of a shoe box) and are hidden mostly by limbs or natural ground cover. Each cache will contain an interesting fact, a question that you must answer to help solve the final coordinates, a log book, and the coordinates and clues for the next cache. We highly recommend having a pen and paper to help keep up with the information. The fourth cache will also contain small find rewards and the final cache will contain wildlife collector cards as well as a first, second, and third-to-find gifts.

This cache was part of the 2010 Virginia State Parks Geocaching Wildlife Adventure. This series ended on December 15, 2010. However, the park has taken over this cache so it is still active. Rewards are no longer available for this cache, but we will be launching the Virginia State Parks 75th Anniversary Geocaching Adventure in March 2011.
