Navigate Emporia: We had a great turnout in spite og the weather. I have started looking for cache spots for next year. We will be getting a little more rural I think. Please join the Emporia Convention and Visitor Bureau for the first Navigate Emporia Geocaching Event.
Home base for the event is Peter Pan Park.
Navigate Emporia is being held in conjunction with National Tourism Month. We would like to invite you to enjoy all Emporia has to offer. We will have caches at historic residences that will be offering tours throughout the day, memorials to our veterans, off the beaten path locations and a few that are right under your nose.
Schedule for the day:
8 A.M. Registration
8:30 Distribution of Coordinates
GumshoeTully has put several stained glass pieces in caches for FTF's so come early and make your windows pretty.
Lunch is on your own, we will have a listing of Emporia's finest eateries with coordinates and addresses for your dining pleasure. If you came alone, grab another cacher to come along for lunch.
3 P.M. Prizes and giveaways, we will have lots of great stuff for door prizes, this list will be updated as they are donated so bookmark us so you will be notified.
Come Navigate Emporia, enjoy some good food, good friends and log a few smileys while you are at it.
*****Sunday May 2, 2010 from 2-4 the Emporia Recreation Commission and students from Emporia State University will be hosting a Geocaching101 class. The class will be at the Emporia Rec Center and students and experienced cachers will be on hand with extra GPS units to show how they work and share the basic skills of Geocaching.
As a bonus, the coordinates for 5 Navigate Emporia Event caches will be given to all attendees of the Cache and Learn so new cachers can get a feel for geocaching prior to the event.
