Geocache Description:

A nice, short hike up to Square Butte with fantastic views. See Hike number 296 in the Kananaskis Trail Guide Vol. 2 for more information, parking options, and hiking options. Approximately 200 m elevation gain over around 1.2 km (one way) depending on where you start.

The boys are cute
Oh thank heaven
I made it to Mesa Butte

It turns out that this hill is officially named Square Butte, but appears on the maps as Mesa Butte, hence the confusion.

You can start the hike just below the gas well - the second well road that you come to - go along the fence until you find the trail through the cutblock. It's a gentle grade until just before the final push, it does get a bit steep. The views from up here are really quite impressive considering this is must a minor hill.

Make sure you sign the summit register - set down for a spell and read some of it as well.

Cache is a 870ml Lock n Lock hidden under rocks. Finders cards, coin prizes for the first 4 finders - take your pick.
