This cache can be found at the historic Horton Kitchen Log Cabin at Grayson, Lake Ky. In 1961 history enthusiast prevailed upon the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to move the cabin from its original site when impoundment of Grayson Lake flooded the bottoms of the Little Sandy River. Later the cabin was moved again to the place it now sits just across from the Grayson Dam, where Rangers could help keep a better eye on it. Preservationists say that no cabins in the area are more historically significant than the Horton-Kitchen house, which is at least 150 years old. The cabin has a long interesting line of history through several families and events. Renovation of the cabin began in the early 1990’s but for unknown reasons ceased. The current location is still a nice spot to go to relax and enjoy a piece of history. Located near the Grayson Lake Marina the cabin area is surrounded with many things to enjoy as well, from the lake itself to walking trails, beautiful scenery, a nice campgound, complete with golf course. Enjoy the cache, the scenery and please look into the very interesting history of the Horton-Kitchen Cabin. The cache has been replaced with a much smaller version because our old beloved cache burned when apparently lightning struck and burned the trees where the cache was located. Still a great location to check out!~
