This is the street (Laurel) that the 'car chase' scene in Top Gun was filmed. A couple of blocks down from GZ is where Maverick and Charlie pull over and she tells him that she didn't want anyone to find out she was falling for him.
Maverick originally had a line to say. Tom Cruise forgot the line and 'ad libbed' by kissing Kelly McGillis instead. Tony Scott, the director, liked it so much that he left the scene like that.
The song 'Take My Breath Away' is played in the background by 'Berlin'.
I wanted to place this a little closer to the actual spot but there's already a cache nearby (GC1G6KR). These coords will get you close to the scene: N 32 43.867 W 117 10.098.
