Do You Believe In Miracles? Traditional Cache
LabRat101: Did a run in to do maintenance. The original hiding spot was turned into an off-roader bypass around the closed gate, and my cache was lost or buried. I noticed quite a few fresh gunshot shells in the area, so I decided that this might not be the best place for a cache, so I'm going to archive it. Thanks to all who visited it!

A cache honoring the 30th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. In Feb 1980, an underdog USA hockey team upset the USSR in the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid.
The cache is a small, camoed plastic container overlooking a great ice hockey pond. There is room for the log and the usual GC items. There is an un-activated trackable for FTF. The cache is hidden off of Woodruff Lane in Stewart Forest, however Woodruff lane from parking is rough going. You are better approaching from the 2-Headed geocache, GC2458J. As with other caches in Stewart, stay home during hunting season.
In 1980, I was in 8th grade, living in a town less than 10 miles from Lake Placid. They closed our schools to house the national guard; our family went to Florida for the time off. While down there, we caught on the news what happened that day back home. The echoes of USA! USA! still echo in Herb Brooks arena. Where were you that day?
