Geocache Description:

Tweedledum & Tweedledee snag the FTF on this one.

CONGRATULATIONS!

This cache area is one of the many locations in this part of Georgia that was used in the first 5 episodes of the Dukes of Hazzard.

This cache is here for all to enjoy and is wheelchair accessible.

The cache is located at the posted coordinates. GZ can be seen in all four photos below. As with most of the caches in this series, it is an easy find and is designed to bring you out to visit some locations that have made recent history.

This location was used in 2 of the original 5 episodes of the TV show, "The Dukes Of Hazzard".

Below are screen captures from 2 of the TV episodes and photos of what the area looks like today.

Above is a TV screen capture of the Flatbed Truck Jump scene taken from the episode "High Octane". Here you see the General Lee jumping Westbound on Bethel Road over a large flatbed truck which is traveling North on GA highway 20. Below is a photo taken by me February 26, 2010 at the approximate same location and angle the TV film crew shot the scene. Today you can still see the location of the telephone booth and what remains of the old power pole just behind it. The phone booths are not the same, but the location is the same.

NEXT PHOTOS ARE VIEWS TAKEN OF THE GROCERY STORE AND SITE USED IN THE EPISODE "Mary Kaye's Baby".

Above is a TV screen capture of the Grocery Store used in the episode "Mary Kaye's Baby". Notice the location of the phone booth. It's location is how I know that this was the actual site of the old store and gas pumps. Below is a photo taken by me February 26, 2010 at the approximate same location and angle the TV film crew shot the scene. The old store was demolished in the late 1980's to make room for the much larger store that exists here now. The actual spot and angle are slightly different though. I had to position myself to where the phone booth is visible and at the closest angle possible so that you can make a good comparison of the photos.

I was told by the owner of the location that she has photos of the original building. I am working with her to get copies of the photos and am hoping to share them with you soon by posting them on this cache page in the future.

I CAN BE SEEN HERE SOME MORNINGS BUYING BREAKFAST. THE VARIETY OF BISCUITS THEY MAKE HERE ARE VERY GOOD!

The cache container is a magnetic key holder. Please replace it back where you found it to keep it out of the rain.

ENJOY THE LOCATION AND YOUR HUNT.

The old hint read as follows: Hidden where one of the endangered species use to be. This one is now extinct! It is no longer hidden there because the carcass was recently removed. A new hint has been added to reflect the new hiding place.
