Geocache Description:


A somewhat muddy bridleway climbs gently from Stretton-on-Dunsmore east across the old heathland. Now farmland, it still has an exposed feeling, but close to the cache offers some fine views.

Very limited parking is available at the start of the bridleway (N 52° 20.966 W 001° 23.430); it may be better to park at the recreation ground (N 52° 21.068 W 001° 23.808), as used for Dunsmore Heath cache (GC1YH2N), and approach either by the footpath or along Rugby Lane. As already suggested it is best to wear wellies or walking boots along the bridleway, particularly after wet weather.

If you chose to continue on walk 9, then please note that the path continues to Limekiln Farm and eventually crosses the busy A45. Take great care.

This is another in a series of caches created by ‘A Coventry Way Association’. The association was formed to promote a long distance footpath, A Coventry Way, and to support local authorities in the path’s maintenance. Our primary aim was to encourage people to discover and use the local countryside. A book of 21 Circular Walks was produced, broadly based on the main walk. The cache is a micro (not a film canister), containing just a log. It is located somewhere on walk 9 and can be done in conjunction with Avonside Walk 9 (GCV2HD) and Dunsmore Heath Walk 9 (GC1YH2N).
