NEWS FLASH! We're flashing again! Yes, it's time for the seventh World Wide Flash Mob event!
To celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the Air Mail service (and the 82nd anniversary of a certain mouse's appearance in Plane Crazy), we'll be building and delivering a little air mail of our own!
The WWFMs are coordinated geocaching events. A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse. These events take place simultaneously at locations across the globe.
The event will last exactly 15 minutes, not one second longer (unless we're delayed by weather at the destination or mechanical difficulties). The event will begin EXACTLY at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 15, 2010 and will end at EXACTLY 2:15 PM. You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event.
The above coordinates will take you to the designated WWFM VII gathering place. It's rumored that there will be a number of cachers in this area so plan ahead. 2 hours are recommended for domestic flights - 3 for international flights.
• At 1:59 PM make your way to the designated event coordinates shown.
• 2:00 PM - At exactly 2:00 PM as determined by the GPS clock and a whistle blow, a container will be placed on the ground at the designated coordinates and a signal will be given to signify the start of the event. You may then converge on the container for the official event. Log sheets and event kits will be handed out. Bring your own pen. Sign individual log sheets and drop them in the cache bucket.
• 2:05 PM - Enjoy your snack while you build your paper airplane.
• 2:10 PM - Assemble for group plane launch and photo.
• 2:14 PM - One minute warning is called. FTF will be drawn at this time. Clean up and prepare to leave.
• 2:15 PM - Make like a muggle and LEAVE the area! Log entries sealed & closed. If you missed signing the log, you missed the event.
