Geocache Description:

Join us on Easter Sunday for an Egg-Stravaganza in the Park! We’ll be at Royden Park near Frankby on Wirral between 12 Noon and 3pm (though I’ll probably be there from about 10:30am). Access to Royden Park is from the junction of Hillbark Road and Montgomery Hill. We’ll be found on the large open grassland area (at the above co-ordinates), so bring your own chair and join us for a relaxing chat etc. The location should be accessible for both wheelchairs and prams, provided they can go across level grassland. Additionally, Royden Park offers :

Non-Caching Activities

Craft Fair – in the Court House by the car park from 10:00am to 4:00pm. It’s free to enter and there are several stalls selling local handmade crafts

Refreshments – also available at the Court House (public toilets are also available here)

Ice Creams – There is normally an ice cream van in the car park on Sundays. This is always very popular with vistors judging by the length of the queue!

Narrow Gauge & Miniature Railways – These railways operate on Sunday afternoons 1.00pm - 4.00pm (staff and weather permitting) and are very popular with the youngsters (hence queues soon form). They are run by a local model engine society and rides are FREE – donations are gratefully received! The ground level miniature railway pulls passengers in open carriages through woods, past Roodee Mere and out into the meadows. The raised narrower guage railway has trains that are actual scaled down models of the real thing, and they take passengers through the woodland. This runs less frequently that the miniature railway.

Walled Garden - This is adjacent to the Coach House and is open all year from 10.00am to 4.30pm. Unfortunatelly our four-legged friends and not allowed in the walled garden. I'll try to find out whether it's accessible for wheelchairs and children in prams.

Outdoor Games – As we are to be based on a large open grassy area, there is plenty of space for games for both young & old, so bring your boules, footballs and other garden games.

Juggling Workshop – Team Marzipan have kindly offered to run a "begginners ball juggling workshop", so do remember your balls!. For more details look at http://www.yoyoguy.com/info/ball/index2.html

Caching Activities

Caches – There are currently three caches close by.
GCRV08 - The Wirral Pub Crawl Series 1 - The Farmers Arms. You’ll need to google the answer to one question before leaving home, and find the other outside the Farmers Arms at the entrance to the Park.
GC20XNX - Wirral Advent Calendar. I’ll provide montages of images for anyone wanting to follow the woodland trail for this cache.
GC258QT - 1FG Trail #6. And there’s also somewhere very near to sit whilst signing the log!

For those wishing to walk a little further, there are :
GC94EB - A "Common" Cache. A virtual cache on top of Thurstaston Hill. Great views from here, a trig point (for those interested in trigs) and the nearby Thor’s Stone.
GC1PE4M – “Baa baa black sheep”. A traditional cache on a lovely woodland walk.
GC251EA - 1FG Trail #5. This is just outside the park, but worth the short walk.
GC24ZPH - 1FG Trail #2. A quick roadside cache, better found on foot than by car.

There will be a few new caches coming out for this event! I’ll bring printouts of these caches for everyone on the day

Travel Bug & Geocoin Exchange – There will be ample opportunity to swap travel bugs and geocoins. Please ensure any you bring are labelled with their missions and destinations etc

Raffle - To help in fund raising for the Mega-Event in 2012 being held in the North West of England. There will be various prizes, some of which are caching related, others are not.

Chat– There are always plenty of funny stories about each others caching exploits. It’s also a good opportunity to get hints and tips on those caches that have so far eluded you!

There may also be a few other activities and surprises on the day!

Disclaimer - This event is being held at Easter, and although we hope for warm sunny weather, it could also be cool, so please bring appropriate clothing. If planning walking in the woods then walking boots are recommended as some areas can get muddy. There are also lakes so take care with geo-kids and geo-dogs. Hopefully the weather won’t be like that we had in July 2007 for my last Wirral Event!
