This cache has been archived.

TheCur8or: As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Cache is a small plastic clear vile type container (nano) BYO pen. Extensive cam’o take care not to leave scratches.Going from logs this is not the cache to do if you are not familiar with camo. Some form of retrieval tool might make it easier, please take care. No need to use force. It will come easily if you do it right. Let me know of any damage.

With one member of the family with a disability we have been trying to find wheelchair friendly caches. We have come to some difficulty as some caches are not marked as wheelchair friendly on the attributes yet would be really suitable, while others are marked as wheelchair accessible and yet can not be reached by the person in the chair.

This cache will also be the first of a series of caches that are all as wheelchair friendly as possible in Auckland parks called: wheelchairs in Auckland parks (WIAP). They will all be able to be reached by a person in a wheelchair but some finger dexterity may be required.

Edenvale Park lies between Edenvale Park Rd and Brentwood Ave. (for wheel chair access go down the Edenvale Park Rd or Wynyard rd entrance) and looks like a classic Auckland gully park - designated as public space, because at the time it was developed, the ground was too steep or boggy. Now, it's a little bit of piece and quiet with a multi-levelled, Japanese feel. The Brentwood entrance drops down steep volcanic-stone steps (from the days when pillaging Mt Eden for building material was A-OK), and spills you into a peaceful sanctuary that I felt absolutely screamed for a geocach. It's curiously empty at lunchtimes.
