Sewage Main Traditional Cache
Active by Nature: This cache is not very accessible during the summer months as the trail gets very overgrown. As I am moving in the fall and have not found anyone to adopt this cache, it is time to archive it. Fittingly, I saw three deer within a few meters of the cache this evening!

The trail to this cache is 1.5 km return and follows..... you
guessed it.... the Durham Region Sewage Main. Despite the title,
this is a beautiful hike offering fantastic views of the wetlands
at the mouth of Duffin's Creek and abundant wildlife viewing
opportunities.

Parking coordinates are the same as for Skyecat's "In the Navy."
Follow the signs for the sewage main for starters. Part way along,
the more well-defined trail follows closer to the water, while the
rougher, higher ground is marked with the sewage main signs
periodically. The higher ground may be preferable during wet
periods. Both routes meet up again. When the trail veers sharply 90
degrees to the north west, and faces an industrial building,
continue straight instead, just to the east of the sewage main sign
and pick up the animal track for the short distance to the cache.
The best time of day to do this cache is at sunrise, when the sun
will be rising over the mouth of Duffin's Creek. Please be
observant and record any signs or sightings of wildlife and I will
keep an ongoing record on the cache page. I would advise that dogs
be kept on leash, as recently, a 135 pound Rottweiler that cornered
a coyote was bitten. Please remember to let the wildlife be wild.
Do not feed them, even the waterfowl. FTF prize is an official City
of Vancouver Olympic pin, or help yourself to any of the other
SWAG. Happy trails! Congratulations to Nathan B. for FTF! WILDLIFE
