It is not known that Japanese famous great writer, Osamu Dazai lived in the town of Funabashi unexpectedly.
Dazai lived in Funabashi for medical treatment for few periods from 1935.
As for "Das Gemeine", as for the meaning, "vulgarity" means in German with the work of these days.

船橋の町に日本の有名な文豪、太宰治が住んでいたことは意外と知られていません。
太宰は昭和１０年から療養のため、わずかな期間ですが船橋に住んでいました。
『ダス・ゲマイネ』はこのころの作品で、意味はドイツ語で『卑俗』という意味です。
なんとも彼らしいタイトルですが、これは津軽弁の「んだすけまいね」(それだからだめなのだ)と韻を踏ませているそうです。
太宰は『十五年間』という作品の中で『私には千葉船橋町の家が最も愛着が深かった』と書いていて、船橋には彼が住んでいた痕跡が残っています。
その中のひとつが座標の位置にある夾竹桃です。
この木は太宰自身が植えたもので、現在でも夏にきれいな花を咲かせます。
さて、ここからはGeocachingです。

CacheはN35°41.7(a+4)2 E139°58.9(3-a)0の近くにあります。
ここには大正時代から続く旅館があります。
周りには高いビルが立ち並ぶ中、ここだけ時が止まったような建物です。
ここも太宰の縁の地で、彼が船橋在住のとき、執筆のため宿泊したとのことです。
当時、貧しかった太宰は、もちろん宿泊費を踏み倒したというラブリーな言い伝えが残っています。
他にも太宰の旧宅跡がN35°41.932 E139°59.524にあります。
