This place is not so attractive in the dry season, but nevertheless Thai people love even the smallest waterfalls, and this one is - at least during rainy season - quite reasonable and your quest is a nice walk in the nature including some bird and monkey watching and butterflies in their habitat.
Coming to Kathu just follow the signs to the waterfall, at the end of the road you will find a parking lot (Way-point PARK). You should buy some drinks or drinking water before at the Family Mart (Way-point DRINK). The restaurant at the parking lot has a dual price structure, which means foreigners have to pay more than Thais.
From the parking lot, cross the bridge and follow the stairs upwards until the end, then follow the trail to it's end. You are very near to the cache. Bring some drinking water, if you come with small children be prepared to carry them. It is a long way up for your little rascals.
On the way back, you might enjoy some cooling down at the Kathu Cable Water ski (Way-point SKI).
