Geocache Description:

BSCC=Bramble Sister's Cemetary Cache
According to the Ohio Cemetary information the name of this cemetary is called Cold Cemetary. According to the Ohio Bicentennial Historical Marker this cemetary is called Captina African American Methodist Episcopal Cemetery.

The Historical marker says that this was once the area of a thriving African American farming community established in the 1820's. It became a stop on the Underground Railroad shrouded in secrecy of volunteers who directed slaves northward. The leader was Alexander Harper and he is buried in this cemetary along with Benjamin Oliver McMichael, an educator who taught for 12 years at a segregated schoolhouse. There are 113 known burials in the cemetary including 9 Civil War Veterans. You would never know there was this many buried here as there are only a few headstones. Take some time and read the Historical Marker and look around at the headstones. A lot of history for a little known cemetary. Parking is available along side the road.

Congrats to mabrownstein for FTF!
