Geocache Description:

A straightforward small cache near the western end of the Basingstoke canal.

This is our first cache so we decided to begin with something fairly straightforward. This is a small sized cache with a log book, pencil and a few small swaps.

The cache is close to the footpath running along the Basingstoke canal, close to the village of Up Nately.

There are a few options for parking. Space can be found at N51°15.850; W001°00.002 or next to the phone box by the small pond on the western edge of the village (this is on the other side of the canal).

The walk westwards along the canal towpath is very pleasant. This part of the canal is now disused but there are many reeds and other flaura. It's approximately 450m from the above parking references to the western end of the canal where you will find a turning basin and an information board. Very close by is an alpaca farm which is also worth a look. Should you wish to start your walk from here, parking space can also be found at N51°15.836; W001°00.355.
