Geocache Description:

The 12th installment in "The Boys of Summer Series" revolves around Dave Altizer. Dave was born in Pearl, IL, but after his days of playing baseball were done, settled in the quaint town of Pleasant Hill, IL.

Dave played every position except for pitcher and catcher, but was primarily a shortstop. Dave played in the major leagues from 1906-1911 with Washington, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and the Chicago White Sox. Dave also played another 10 years after this in the minors which attests his true love of the game. Dave twice finished in the top 5 in the league for stolen bases, not bad for a guy almost 30 before he made it to the big leagues. Dave was given the nickname of "filipino" because he served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and China during the Boxer Rebellion and the Spanish-American War.

Waypoint #1 will take you to the final resting place of Dave Altizer. At this location you will need the following information:

What year was Iva Altizer born? ABCD

The final cache is in a nano container. The location is very close to where a little spring training might take place. Beware of muggles. It is located at:

N 3C.2D.B0D W 090.52.0B7

*This cache used to have heavy bushwhacking in the summer months, but has since been relocated to be much more convenient year round.
