Capitol Area Council, Cache to Eagle #2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Vertighost: Cache owner (CO) has not responded and, as there's been no cache to find for for an extended period of time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. In general, caches that have been archived due to maintenance issues or lack of cache owner communication are not eligible to be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Capitol Area Council, Armadillo District

This cache has been placed as part of the Boy Scouts of America “Get in the Game” activities. Caching to Eagle is just one of the Geocaching activities that BSA has developed to help celebrate its 100th Anniversary.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete an extensive service project that he plans, organizes, leads, and manages. On average, each Scout conducts 167 service hours as part of that project.

Caching to Eagle is designed to showcase these Eagle Scout service project sites.

For his Eagle Project, a Scout from Troop 399 helped the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department by rebuilding a bridge on a nature trail near Loop 360. Months prior to the project, the bridge had been dislodged from its supports by heavy rains. This project did not only help the hikers and bikers who frequent the area but also saved the City of Austin the time and expense of the project.

The cache is not far from the bridge.
