Dogwood_Reviewer: Per the current geocaching listing requirements/guidelines (guidelines):

"By submitting a cache listing, you assure us that you have adequate permission to hide your cache in the selected location. If you have permission to place a cache on private property, indicate this on the cache listing for the benefit of the reviewer and those seeking the cache.

In the case of public property, permission can often be obtained from the agency or association that manages the land. Worldwide, there are many such agencies and organizations that regulate geocaching on their managed land. As the cache owner you are responsible for determining who to contact to obtain permission.

Even if you are certain that geocaching is permitted on particular public property, ensure that you have followed any and all requirements established by the land owner or land management agency before placing the cache. There may be locations in which cache hides are inappropriate, even though not prohibited by local laws.

If Groundspeak is contacted and informed that your cache has been placed inappropriately, your cache may be temporarily disabled or permanently archived."

Please remove your container ASAP.

Geocache Description:

In 2010, the city of New Bern, the colonial capital of North Carolina, celebrated the 300th anniversary of its founding in 1710. This geocache is one of a series that highlights the 300-year history of New Bern. We promise a fun time for all who chose to seek out these caches, learn some of the history of our fair city, and discover why it is an interesting and pleasant city to visit or even to call home.

Lawson Creek Park, where this geocache is located, is named for John Lawson (1674-1711), an English explorer and naturalist who was instrumental in the exploration and eventual settling of New Bern. Lawson described the environment of this area in his own "A New Voyage to Carolina," in 1709. Unfortunately, Lawson was savagely executed by the Tuskarora Indians as revenge against injustices brought by white settlers.

Located on the Trent River, Lawson Creek Park has two boat launches, restrooms, picnic shelter, soccer fields, fishing piers, and a handicapped-accessible walkway and fishing pier... and more! Take time to enjoy these amenities!
